Hard Jacka - Anzac Tribute eventFriday, 24th April, 1.00pm Altona Library Author of ‘Hard Jacka’, Michael Lawriwsky, will be visiting the Altona Library to discuss the life of ANZAC hero Albert Jacka in a special ANZAC Day tribute. ‘Hard Jacka’ is a rich and fascinating story about Albert Jacka VC, Australia’s first Victoria Cross winner during the Great War, and the men of the 14th Battalion, First AIF. The story explores the Great War’s heroes, their sacrifice, determination, larrikin humour and the deep bonds that life in the trenches developed between the men. Michael Lawriwsky has written a superb account of the man whose acts of selfless heroism at Gallipoli won him the Victoria Cross, and whose bravery in the battlefields of France earned him the unwavering loyalty his friends and colleagues. Book your place by calling the Altona Library on 9932 1330. Listing added: 16th April 2009 |
