AT Movie Night - Grease

To raise funds for the AT Foundation, we are having a Grease Movie Night on 5th June 2009.

Movie starts at 7.30 pm, and tickets cost $25.00 with all proceeds going to the AT Foundation.

You are encouraged to dress as your favouraite character from Grease!

Complimentary - Champagne or fruit juice on arrival plus ice cream cone at interval

Kiosk- available to purchase alcohol, soft drinks and snacks

Hard Jacka - Anzac Tribute event

Friday, 24th April, 1.00pm

Altona Library

Author of ‘Hard Jacka’, Michael Lawriwsky, will be visiting the Altona Library to discuss the life of ANZAC hero Albert Jacka in a special ANZAC Day tribute.

‘Hard Jacka’ is a rich and fascinating story about Albert Jacka VC, Australia’s first Victoria Cross winner during the Great War, and the men of the 14th Battalion, First AIF.

The story explores the Great War’s heroes, their sacrifice, determination, larrikin humour and the deep bonds that life in the trenches developed between the men.

Michael Lawriwsky has written a superb account of the man whose acts of selfless heroism at Gallipoli won him the Victoria Cross, and whose bravery in the battlefields of France earned him the unwavering loyalty his friends and colleagues.

Summer Sounds Concert

Featuring: Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows

Hobsons Bay City Council invites you to get into the groove this summer and enjoy a series of free concerts featuring The Black Sorrows and Mick Thomas among others.

This annual series of outdoor concerts are a great opportunity to enjoy quality entertainment, arts and culture. Bring a rug or deck chair and wear a hat and sunscreen.

The Summer Sounds concert in Altona  this year will be held on:

Dolphin Reasearch Boat to Visit Altona

Dolphin Research Institute boat to visit Altona on Friday 23rd January 2009 at 11.00 am

Boat will dock at Altona Pier. An information stand will be set up on Altona Beach.

Carols by Candlelight

Sunday, 14th December

Altona Laverton Council of Churches is holding a concert at Logan Reserve, Pier Street , Altona.

The concert will feature the Westgate Concert Band from 7.45pm, as well as performances by Victor Gago and Danielle Stringer, the Altona Community Choir, Shane Reid and Linda Padayachee, Damien Blewitt, Drama Werkz, the Williamstown High School Brass Group and the Mens’ Shed Novelty Band.

In the event of bad weather, the concert will be held at St. Mary’s Primary School, Railway Street North , Altona.

Local Scout groups will be selling freshly cut and shaped Christmas trees this year as fundraising for our youth programs in 2009

Support Scouting and buy your Tree between 8.00am and 5pm on the Weekends of 6/7, 13/14 or 20/21 December, in the car park of Bunnings Altona (Millers Rd)

Altona Bayside Festival 2009 - "Fantasy and Magic"

14th - 15th March 2009

Come and join us in this mystery and magic realm of Fantasy. Wizards, warlocks, and even goblins roam all around us from day to day, fairies too. A treat for the whole family. Grand Street Parade on Sunday 15th starts at 11am from the beach end of Pier Street. Decorate your bikes, trikes, scooters, and pedal cars.

Arts and craft show, art works, models, cooking, sewing, all ages. Art Show, fill your canvas with flair. And of course your favorite - the ever popular Pet Show. Carnival rides, food stalls, multicultural food and displays, live entertainment, dance schools, “Main Act” Saturday night, watch this space, and Fire works to be let off on Saturday night at approx 9.15pm.
