Annual Ride to Work Day |

| Hobsons Bay residents are encouraged to swap their cars for a bicycle on Ride to Work Day, Wednesday, 14th October, and give the environment a helping hand. Free breakfast To celebrate, Hobsons Bay City Council is providing a free community breakfast at Logan Reserve, Altona (Melway ref: 54 H11) from 7.00am to 9.00am. Anyone who travels sustainably is welcome to attend. The community breakfast will include prizes from local traders, free bicycle safety checks by professional bike mechanics, a voucher to purchase a hot drink from participating shops in the Pier Street precinct and five minute massages for the cost of a gold coin. The Westgate Bicycle Punt will be operating between the Scienceworks and Fishermans Bend jetties from 6.00am to 6.00pm on Wednesday, 14th October. Tickets are $4 one way or $6 return. Always wanted to cycle over the West Gate Bridge? Then why not take part in this year's Around the Bay in a Day? Last year's event raised over $400,000 for The Smith Family and brought over 2000 riders taking part in the 50km ride into Altona for the Altona Beach Break in Logan Reserve. There are a number of different rides available, from 50km to 250km and there's still time to enter. Entries for the 50km ride to Altona close on Thursday, 8th October. For more information visit Bicycle Victoria at www.bv.com.au If you don't want to ride you can head down to Logan Reserve, Altona and support the riders. Enjoy free music and entertainment and pop into the local shops and cafes for a coffee or bite to eat. |
