Toys for Donald

Santa is heading to Donald on December 23rd.

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who dropped money, toys, food and pamper packs into Altona Gift Gallery to ensure that our mates in the bush have a Christmas.

Kim and Sharon Walsh [Altona Village Traders Assoc] and Leigh and Meridee Hardinge representing Altona will head to Donald on the 23rd December to distribute your gifts.

Contributions came from people as young as 2 and as old as 84,and from suburbs other than Altona. The furtherest was Mildura.

Join the Port Phillip Baykeeper on a fascinating seashore safari. Get to know your local shells, the creatures inhabiting them and learn how you can be part of an ongoing beach survey

Dog’s Breakfast - P.A. Burns Reserve

Treat “mans best friend” to a special breakfast. Bring your dog and find out more about dog on beaches. Free breakfast for both dogs and owners. All dogs on a leash please and BYO doggie bags. Special guests: From Bird Australia, RSPCA, Local Vet, Dog Trainer and Animal Management Officers fro the Hobsons Bay City Council, Parks Victoria and Coast Action/Coastcare.

Urban Wildlife Display

Altona Library - Corner Queen and Sargood Streets – Melways 54 G11

Andrew Wegener from Australian Wildlife lectures presents an amazing display of live and preserved wildlife. Get up close to snakes, frogs, lizards and stick insects. Find out about keeping and observing wildlife.

Send a Letter to Santa

Santa’s mail box is on the corner of Pier and Railway Street [outside Altona Gift Gallery] all letters posted to the North Pole will receive a reply!

If possible could you attached a $2 coin to your letter to Santa, the proceeds will go directly to our sister city Donald to ensure that every child in the township gets a present from Santa.

Letter to Santa must be posted before the 17th December to ensure a reply.

Christmas Donations to Donald

Help out our Sister City celebrate Christmas this year.

Send us a gift for the children of Donald. We'll make sure it gets there, and makes this a better Christmas for the drought stricken town of Doanld in Victoria.

You can bring your gift to the Altona Gift Shop.

We will be travelling up to Donald on December 23rd with our presents.

Learn to Sail - Free!

Calling all Pirates Apprentices

Are you between 13 and 18 years of age and not doing anything on a Sunday?

Starting Sunday 7th December 2008, 10am to 2pm , learn to sail a small yacht in just 12 Weeks, and get a nationally recognized certificate from Yachting Australia and the Australian Sports Commission.

Boats, equipment and lunch supplied by Altona Yacht Club.

Supported by Youth Foundations Victoria .

Your Instructors will be both male and female qualified by Yachting Australia.
