Power up with SolarWant to help the environment but don’t know where to start? Why not take advantage of the federal government’s solar power rebate and install solar panels on your roof? The Council’s ‘Power Up With Solar’ program, in partnership with Eco-Kinetics, offers up to 200 Hobsons Bay homeowners the opportunity to purchase a one kilowatt solar panel system to produce emissions free renewable electricity for your home. Households earning under $100,000 per annum are eligible for the federal government’s solar power rebate of $8,000. This means that residents can install solar panels from $1,760. If you have a northerly roof aspect, a roof area of 8m² and minimal shading, simply contact Eco-Kinetics at eambrus@eco-kinetics.com to book an inspection or phone 9708 6714. If you want to find out more about ‘Power Up with Solar’, the Council is holding a community information session on Wednesday, 15th April from 6.00pm to 7.30pm at Hobsons Bay Civic Centre, 115 Civic Parade, Altona. Art in Public Places is a project coordinated by Hobsons Bay City Council that is held in conjunction with Bayside and Williamstown festivals as a municipal wide event that exhibits the artwork of western region artists in businesses and various venues across Hobsons Bay. Now in its fifth year, Art in Public Places program has continuously grown. Participation in Art in Public Places is an effective way to promote businesses and artists in Hobsons Bay due to the various marketing and media attention surrounding the project, thrusting participating businesses into the public eye. The project is a community building project that enables stronger partnerships between artists and businesses in the local community. Expressions of interest are open for artists that reside in the western suburbs of Melbourne, under 3 categories; Artists in Businesses (visual artists exhibiting in businesses), Galleries and cultural venues in Hobsons Bay and Independent Events. |

The works will involve the demolition of the existing public toilet block and the construction of a new facility in relatively the same location. The new public toilet will contain two unisex self-contained units, which are more accessible and safer for users. The façade of the toilet will be made out of the same type of timber as the new fence on the southern boundary of Logan Reserve. A new path will be constructed to the toilet from Sargood Street and some minor low level landscaping will be undertaken to the area in front of the toilet. The toilet is expected to be a much improved facility and an attractive addition to Logan Reserve. Works are expected to take approximately five weeks to complete.
