Outback Spirit: Wild Food With Juliegh Robins

Over the last few years gardens (and gardeners) have undergone a revolution of sorts. Water restrictions, climate change and rapidly disappearing native habitats has prompted a resurgence in native gardens. While rising food and petrol prices (amongst other things) have seen gardeners returning to home produce gardening. But, how to combine the two successfully?

Join entrepreneur, author and food lover Juliegh Robins on an exciting ‘wild food journey’.  Discover the distinctive flavours and aromas of native ingredients, including Kakadu plum, wild limes, bush tomatoes and mountain pepperberries. Experience the thrill of travelling outside your culinary comfort zone, while working with ingredients that are easy to source and use.

Juleigh will run a cooking demonstration using her Outback Spirit products, give a visual presentation on the ingredients and talk about the involvement of Indigenous people -  including their harvesting of many of the bush foods. Juliegh Robins lives in Altona and is a pioneer of the Australian native food industry.

About the show...

The Victorian amateur premiere of AVENUE Q, the Tony award winning musical about a bunch of furry/felt characters who live on the very far outskirts of a New York borough.

It kind of looks like that famous street that has charmed and educated generations of children, but with added sex, racism, schadenfreude and pornography.

AVENUE Q is a adult-oriented post-modern spoof on Sesame Street . Written by Jeff Whitty with music & lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, it opened on Broadway in 2003. Avenue Q went on to win 6 Tony Awards including Best Musical and has subsequently opened in various incarnations across the world, including in Melbourne .

ACT patrons can expect one of our biggest shows in many years, with a full-stage set, brilliant puppets, and excellent performances trained by professional puppeteers. This is one Altona show that you simply can't miss.
