The Bay

Altona is located on the western side of Port Phillip on what is known as Altona Baym (see map). Along this stretch of water all manner of activities and interests are to be found. From the beautiful family beaches, to the fishing, boating to bird watching, dog walking and sports venues. This is a stretch of water that is sure to cater to your needs.

And only 15 minutes from the CBD of Melbourne, it is easily accessed over the Westgate Bridge.

Fishing in Altona Bay includes pinky snapper, king george whiting and calamari squid, made easier by relatively shallow waters in the area.

The Altona Boat Ramp offers one of the best facilities of its kind in Melboune, which is reflected in its popularity.

The Altona Beach is perfect for swimming on warm days, and is serviced during the season by a volunteer force of life guards - so remember to swim between the flags!
